Do you ever wonder if you’re just not doing enough?

This week has been a trying week.
One of my kids has been feeling sick and I KNOW it is due to his lack of activity and water intake. I’ve been down this road with my oldest recently and all the signs are exactly the same. I’m quite bothered by the fact that my older children are capable of taking the information I give them and using it to help themselves. To stay healthy, to learn, to become responsible adults someday… But despite my constant “make sure you drink enough water” and “go spend some time playing outside” reminders, they seem to do the opposite.

At times like this, I just want to throw my hands in the air and give up… Or wave my white flag… Or take a spa day to put myself together again. I get worn down with frustration and I wonder if I’m doing enough. If I’ve done enough.

Parenting can be trying, but I have faith that this shall pass and that I’ll draw up more energy from some backup generator within me. I hope my boy follows my advice… (And now our pediatrician’s advice too…) I hope he’s enlightened with knowing that he’s the keeper of that little body and that he makes the call on what will help him stay healthy. I hope I don’t sound like a broken record to him and that one day he can look back and know that if I DID sound like a broken record, it was because I love him. I adore my littles. I wish I could do more this week.
