I was recently watching The Rachel Ray Show (which I never really watch) and there was a segment on beauty and skin care. I normally don’t take very much from these segments because I try to avoid the chemical storms that are bottled up and sold at our local drug stores. Luckily, one guy on the show had a tip worth my time lol… He began talking about acne and breakouts and my ear is trained to listen up since I’m constantly breaking out. (Ugh, I hate having the skin of a 15-year-old!) Anyway, he mentioned taking an egg and cracking it… taking the super thin membrane found that lines the inside of the shell and applying it over the budding zit. The protein in the egg is supposed to bring the zit to a head so the bacteria can make its way out without you having to feel the urge to poke and prod at it (which I may be notorious for doing.)
Well normally eggs aren’t part of my daily diet but luckily, my children are not all vegan. I have two boys that have not fully transitioned into vegetarianism yet so they still consume meat, eggs, and dairy on occasion. I made sure to take these guys to the local farmer’s market this past weekend and we picked up their farm fresh organic eggs. This evening, I cooked up a couple of eggs for my bottomless pit children, and I decided to give this method a try. I mean the egg is being consumed and I’m just going to compost the shells anyway.. so why not take a little membrane out of that equation right?
I’m now sitting here, with a tiny piece of egg membrane stuck to my upper left cheek for the past 3 hours. I probably should have tried this prior to the initial poking and prodding I had done, but this poking happened before the show aired on tv haha… So, the conclusion? Don’t poke and prod at your zits prior to trying a new treatment for them. This zit eliminator did not work on my zit but this test could very well be a dud since I had already man handled my face (please don’t do that to yours… it does leave marks… trust me… I know! lol)
Day 2: 24 hours later, my zit did come to a head and was easily drained. Now it’s time to see how it heals! lol

I will be sure to try this again on a fresh zit when it appears, because they will appear. At that point, I will come back and post an update on the outcome of that experiment!
Ready to give this experiment a go? Let me know how your attempt works out!
