I’ve been slowly transitioning into DIY projects. I love learning and keeping my family healthy by avoiding chemicals when I make my homemade house cleaners.

I’ve been using a simple water/vinegar/essential oil spray solution to wipe down surfaces such as my dining room table and kitchen counters. When it came time to clean really tough messes, I kept resorting to heavy duty cleaners though… I just couldn’t get some of the messy stuff cleaned up with my little spray!
Well I now know that it takes a little more power and some elbow grease… But it sure is possible to keep it simple and clean up our tough messes!
Below you’ll find my toaster oven’s baked on mess. Seriously baked on. Like, I-have-been-avoiding-this-terrible-mess kind of mess haha…

^^ This is after one round of cleaning I might add… This puddle of grease was way gunkier! It didn’t occur to me to take pics at first but then had an epiphany half way through the cleaning process… I thought that maybe others could use some proof about these DIY cleaning solutions. 😉

I made a paste of baking soda and vinegar. I took an old toothbrush and got to work! I have to say that you really do have to give this some work… It is best if you soak the mess for a little while… I didn’t… I just got to scrubbing! After about 10-15 minutes of scrubbing, (I think I did pretty good) this sticky tar-like mess came clean!

You can see spots in the metal where the baked in grease was really stuck on…
I suppose I should have cleaned this mess long ago but I’m not stuck on perfection here, I was happy the mess was cleaned up and done with a chemical-free mixture now that I was able to get to it! What a great win for baking soda and vinegar here! I was so happy to see the bottom of my little oven again! 😀
